The Hurricane 401 is a brush seal insert designed for use with Hurricane aluminium stop seal carriers. When fitted as part of a Hurricane sealing system, the 401 insert provides an effective solution for controlling air movement, light ingress and minor sound transmission around windows and doors.
Manufactured with a high-quality, densely packed brush, the Hurricane 401 insert is particularly suited to applications where low resistance and smooth operation are required. The flexible brush filaments conform easily to the mating surface, accommodating minor variations in frame and sash alignment while maintaining continuous contact along the sealing line.
The 401 insert is commonly specified for use around casement windows with cranked hinges and other openings where ease of operation is a priority. It is ideal for situations where draught control and light sealing are required without the higher compression forces associated with blade or bulb inserts.
The insert can be used in both rebated and surface-fixed Hurricane carriers, making it suitable for new purpose-made windows and doors as well as upgrade and refurbishment projects. It fits securely into the aluminium carrier and can be replaced without removing the holder, allowing for straightforward maintenance.
Typical applications include windows and doors where draught reduction is required, areas requiring light control such as photographic dark rooms, and openings subject to frequent use where minimal friction is essential.
